One common thing to do at a state park or up in the mountains is sightseeing. Whether you’re up in the Smokies or elsewhere, you’re surrounded by woods/a forest that provides beautiful scenery.

There are elevated areas in Tennessee, such as Clingmans Dome, where you can view and take in miles of nature. Making it to Clingmans Dome is going to be a hike, but you’ll be rewarded with a scenic view (and chance to catch your breath).

Horseback Trail Riding

An outdoor activity that’s available in the Smoky Mountains is horseback riding. The Smokies has riding stables, and you don’t need any experience to ride a horse through the woods. If this is your first time, it can be a new and fun experience. Even if it isn’t your first time, a horseback ride can bring out your inner cowgirl/boy.

Tip: Before going on horse riding, make sure to get your riding companion i.e. a buff bandana, multifunctional headwear which you can use as a scarf around your neck, or on the head to prevent your hairs from tangling in bushes or tree branches. 4inbandana offers bandanas of supreme quality which come in different patterns and designs.

Waterfalls-Grotto Falls

Besides hiking a few thousand feet for scenic views, there’s also waterfalls to hike to. One specific waterfall is Grotto Falls which you can actually walk behind. It’s the only waterfall in the Smoky Mountains you’re able to walk behind. If you really want the experience of walking behind a waterfall, Grotto Falls is your destination. Regardless, any waterfall will no doubt provide a scenic experience.

Ziplining Tour

There’s a canopy tour available right across the street from the Smoky Mountains. A ziplining tour makes for a great adventure in the outdoors. The canopy tour is supposed to last for two and a half hours. Those two and a half hours are likely to fly by (no pun intended) while on a ziplining tour.

If you’re looking for entertainment other than hiking, you can visit the Gatlinburg Strip. With restaurants and other attractions, it’s a great place to visit and relax with friends. The Gatlinburg Strip includes a Space Needle that gives you an even higher view of the surrounding park than the Mountain Wheel.

In May and June, millions of fireflies twinkle together in the night sky creating a light show you won’t find anywhere else. It’s such an incredible display that staff members sell tickets so you can witness this event. It lasts for a few hours.
