What is HIFU Facelift?
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment is a new technology that will help solve your skin ageing problems and get younger-looking skin without damaging the surface of your skin. It is a non-surgical facelift treatment that tightens and lifts saggy skin.No incision, no injection, no downtime, safe and effective. This treatment is ideal for people who don’t want to go under the knife or pain tolerance is low.
HIFU Facelift treatment uses a high-intensity focused ultrasound energy that penetrates the layers of the skin (fascia, deep dermis and subcutaneous fibrous tissue)and heats up to produce new collagen. The new collagen produced makes skin firmer and tighter. The greater amount of new collagen produces a result of firmer and tighter skin.
What is the difference between HIFU from Sygmalift?
HIFU is the general name called for the facelift treatment. Sygmalift is the name of the medical device used for HIFU face lifting. There are more several medical devices used for HIFU facelift treatment. Ulthera and Ultraformer 3 are some of them which have the same goal, that is to make your skin tighter and younger-looking. The only difference is the intensity, the depth of the skin targeted and the comfort that it can provide during the treatment.
In Cambridge Therapeutics, they offer HIFU Plus+ Facelift and Sygmalift.
HIFU Plus+ Facelift
The main target if this treatment is the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS), fascia, deep dermis, and subcutaneous fibrous tissue layers of skin. Its effectivity is stimulating collagen production. The best effect of this treatment is treating double chin, fine lines, wrinkles, and basic facial treatment. It also reduces sagging skin along the jawline, drooping eyelids and crow’s feet.
HIFU Plus+ Facelift delivers the ultrasound energy deep into the skin fractionally without damaging the outer layer of the skin. It is completely painless, non-invasive and downtime is minimal. This treatment best works with people 30 years and up. And if you have a high degree of loose skin, you may need to undergo the treatment several times to achieve a better result.
Same as HIFU Plus+, Sygmalift non-invasive and painless. It has a Tri-Micro Focal ultrasound feature that targets the 3 depths of the skin for the production and stimulation of collagen. Aside from the production of collagen, it also promotes oxygenation and remodelling of collagen fibres. Sygmalifthas 1000 intersecting beams of ultrasound energy that targets the depth of the skin tissue with high precision. The result is comparable to a full facelift or other surgical facelift procedures made by plastic surgeons.
The areas that Sygmalift treat are chin and jaw-line contouring, eye contouring, eyebrow lifting, soften fines lines, skin tightening and rejuvenation. Effects can be seen immediately and will last up to 12 months but follow up treatments may be needed to maintain a youthful glow skin. Here is the list of benefits you can get from undergoing Sygmalift HIFU Facelift:
- Skin hydration increased
- Retention of the skin’s moisture
- Skin repair and healing
- Smoothens skin texture
- Stimulate circulation
Sygmalift Facelift treatment was first provided by Cambridge Therapeutics in Singapore. They are also recognized as a Centre of Excellence in technical and operating on Sygmalift and Sygma Body Device.
HIFU facial treatment, how is it done?
Special preparation is not needed before undergoing the treatment.
- Makeup will be requested to be removed from your face.
- The physician will clean the area to be treated.
- The ultrasound gel will be applied and the HIFU device will be placed against your skin.
- The device will be set to the right setting.
- Ultrasound energy will be transported to generate new collagen for 45-60 minutes.
- The device will be removed and you will be advised if additional treatment is needed.
In some cases, there are patients that their tolerance to pain is very low, a pain reliever will be given by the physician or anaesthetic cream will be applied.
Is it suitable for everybody?
The treatment works best on patients with a mild-moderate degree of loose skin. For patients with a high degree of loose skin especially on the neck part, you might need multiple treatments. If it is severe, this treatment may not work for you and may need surgery instead.
How long does it take to see the result?
Initial effects may be seen immediately after the treatment. Full results can be seen approximately 3-4 months since the regeneration of collagen takes weeks and months or it depends on your body how fast it produces new collagen.
HIFU treatment usually takes about 45-60 minutes depending on the area treated. HIFU facelift treatment does not require recovery time. You do not need to stay in the clinic for days to get recovered. You can go home right away after the treatment. You can even take the treatment between your lunch break and can go back to work after the treatment.
The treatment is painless and non-invasive but each patient’s skin is different, and some are sensitive. When you undergo the treatment, you may feel a pricking or warm sensation. There might be red patches on skin and swelling too but this will disappear after a few days. And rarely, numbness on delicate areas.
How much does HIFU cost?
HIFU facelift treatment normally costs between $450-$5000. The cost depends on the treatment area, the brand of HIFU that will be used, the total number of treatments, consultation fee and of course doctor’s fee. You can ask your doctor about the cost during a consultation.
