When your AC has damaged components, there are so many things that could go wrong. Many people have the impression it’s always a dirty filter or a lack of refrigerant. But a modern AC unit has several components, all of which must function at a hundred percent to keep you cool and comfortable. If you want to maintain your HVAC, how do you know which part needs maintenance?
Keeping You Cool
An air conditioning can prevent you from feeling the sweltering heat and stuffiness. Like a refrigerator, it uses chilled coils or tubes to remove the heat from the air. As the air moves across the coils, it cools down. Different types of air conditioners use this system, including split systems and ductless ACs.
The Condenser is Everything
When the air conditioning is blowing warm air instead of cold, do not blame it on the thermostat. There are so many parts within the unit that could be the main culprit. The condenser is often the main reason for the hot air. For systems with a separate condenser, the debris and dust that accumulates may be hindering the efficiency of the system. Before you get a screwdriver to see what’s going on inside, check that the condenser is free from twigs, leaves, and rocks.
Leaks and Dirt Everywhere
Wear and tear is the culprit when it comes to leaks. An air conditioner that is older than ten years could have several issues such as leaks and weakened tubes and coils.
You have to pay attention to the evaporator coils and condenser coils as well. If you don’t know what to look for, ask an expert to check whether the coils are still clean and sturdy with a regular inspection.
Where Electricity Flows
In some instances, the problems do not lie in the cooling components or any of the lengths of the coil. Some AC problems are mainly electrical. The most commonly at fault are uses and breakers. Capacitors keep the fans and compressors running, and when there is the smallest glitch the motor could burn out.
If you live in a rural area where the electricity supply can be dodgy, you could rely on generators to power your air conditioning unit. However, you need to make sure that the AC’s power wattage is within the power of the generator. Also, if you need the generator to power up other things such as refrigerators and other appliances at the same time, you might not be able to use it for your AC for long.
Leave it to The Experts
Since you use them more often during the warmer months, your HVAC system may already need an air conditioning tune-up from Utah’s top heating and cooling experts. They are in the best position to tell you what needs to be done, and which parts require work or replacement, perhaps. You need to ensure that these check-ups are regular.
You might think that only the brand matters when it comes to air conditioning units; but AC brands with the highest satisfaction ratings do not come from only the top brands. The best ones are those that are adequately maintained. Even the best brands require timely and regular maintenance.
